After spending 6 years getting my PhD, I've made my home in Washington, DC for around 4 years working as an economist in banking regulation, working on my research, involving a lot of coding and being wrapped up in stats, along with occasional trips (now remote) to examine banks. Russia born, but DC raised. My young Soviet self decided there were probably better, shinier toys in the US and decided to skedaddle. I love hiking and the outdoors- I’ve wandered around in all sorts of places, from the Alps to the Rockies to the Caucasus. If you add some kind of ancient ruins to the mix, then I'm truly in my happy place, I love learning about the past. These days my travels are closer to home, but have been trying to make the most of it and have added sailing and long distance biking as my new quarantine activities. I'm a book and film aficionado so if you have something interesting that you've watched or read recently, please let me know! Generally, if it stimulates the "little gray cells", I'm up to chat about it.
