Armenian national, David Arshakyan, has signed a two-year contract with the football club, Chicago Fire. The striker will also have the option to continue to play for them for a third and fourth year. He has expressed keen interest in joining this club in particular where he can be a part of building heir championship program.
Arshakyan's professional career began when he played for the Armenian team, FC Mika in 2012 and made three Premier League appearances when they won the 2012/13 Armenian Super Cup. He enjoyed a successful career playing football in the homeland for a number of years before he went on to play outside of the Armenian borders.
At the beginning of the 2015 football season, the 21-year-old signed up to play for FK Trakai of the Lithuanian A-League. He made exemplary performances during his thirty-four league appearances. Arshakyan scored an astounding twenty-five goals and had six multi-goal games, with three hat-tricks, and ended his season three goals shy of the top goal scorer. He also made additional appearances in six UEFA Europa League qualifiers for FK Trakai and scored a total of five goals including a brace against Havnar Bóltfelag in July 2015.
This season, Arshakyan has made eighteen appearances on the field, scoring nine goals, and a hat-trick in the team's defeat over FK Utenis Utena earlier this year.
He made his impressive international debut for Armenia on March 29, 2016, earning the kick off against Denmark in the UEFA U21 Championship qualifying match. The young striker has achieved tremendous success at such an early age as a rising star who we can say is proudly Armenian.
