The Armenian Society of Los Angeles (ASLA) will be hosting several upcoming events in celebration of their 60th anniversary. The society was established in 1956 in the state of California as a "non-profit cultural organization." CaptureCurrently, ASLA has 1,500 members who are actively involved in the Society, which offers cultural, humanitarian, and also educational activities in Glendale, California for those interested. They are involved in many humanitarian projects, including "Save-A-Child in Armenia" and "Educational Fund." So after 60 years, ASLA will be celebrating with a major event each month from August to November 2016, so be sure to mark these on your calendar. August: On August 27, a Gala Dinner will be held in celebration of both the 60th anniversary of ASLA as well as the 50th wedding anniversary of grand benefactors Ludovica and Agop Aintablian. On this occasion: - ASLA headquarters will be named after Ludovica and Agop Aintablian. - The Library and Conference Room are to be named after Audrey and Vaughn Gregor. - The VIP and Reading Room will also be named after Galust Babakhanian & Family. - The Main Lobby is to be named in honor of Sinan and Angela Sinanian. September: The anniversary of the Republic of Armenia will be celebrated on September 24, as ASLA hosts the momentous occasion. A dinner and reception will take place at ASLA headquarters in Glendale, California. October: A Grand Concert is planned for October 2 and will feature internationally-renowned violinist, Sergey Khachaturian accompanied by the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence and the 60th anniversary of ASLA. The event will take place at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena. November: On November 19, ASLA will host its Annual Dinner Dance and also honor its past and present presidents that evening. The event will begin at 8p.m. at ASLA headquarters in Glendale, California.
